On July 7, 2023, a seminar titled “The 10th CAV Roundtable” took place at Sirindhorn Science Home in Thailand Science Park, Pathum Thani. The event was organized by the Rail and Modern Transports Research Center (RMT), in collaboration with the Smart Mobility Research Center of Chulalongkorn University, Thai Intelligent Transport Systems Association (ITS Thailand), and Thai Automotive Industry Association (TAIA).
The seminar focused on the development of Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) in Thailand and highlighted success stories from industry leaders such as Neolix from China and Hwacom from Taiwan. Distinguished experts and professionals gathered to discuss crucial topics related to CAV, including the challenges of implementing Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology, establishing standards for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and promoting autonomous driving (AD) in Thailand.
During the seminar, RMT showcased prototype autonomous golf cars that were successfully demonstrated in Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, also known as Bang Sue Grand Station. Another highlight of the event was the presentation of an electric vehicle ready for installation as a Level-3 Autonomous Vehicle. Developed under the “Development of Autonomous Driving System under Local Context” research project, this vehicle received support from the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC) and Panus Assembly Company Limited. Its unveiling contributed valuable knowledge and experience to all participants.
This seminar marked a significant step forward in the exploration of connected autonomous vehicles in Thailand, bringing together key stakeholders to foster collaboration and pave the way for a future of intelligent transportation systems.
