The Rail and Modern Transport Research Group (RMT) is a research division within the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) under NSTDA. RMT is dedicated to developing advanced technology for the rail and modern transport industries. The focus lies in enhancing safety and reliability within the railway system through R&D projects in four key areas:

- Automated inspection techniques
- Manufacturing of railway parts and components
- Data-driven maintenance analysis
