Bangkok Goal on BGC
BCG economy model has been adopted by the government of Thailand as part of post-COVID-19 recovery strategy towards a more inclusive, balanced, and sustainable recovery from COVID-19. BCG is an integration of bioeconomy, circular economy and green economy,
o Bioeconomy involves the production of renewable biological resources and the conversion of these resources into value added products.
o Circular economy aims at reusing and recycling materials to maximize the value of limited resources.
o Green economy determines to keep economy, society and the environment in balance, leading to sustainable development.
In conclusion, the model is based on the synergy between the bio-economy, circular economy and green economy, and strengthening the use of STI and digital technology based on a whole-of-society approach.
“Bangkok Goals on BCG Economy”, a one-page document to be proposed by Thailand at APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM) in 2022 will be an affirmation of their commitment to pursue a more inclusive, balanced, and sustainable recovery from COVID-19 and achieve long-term environmental and climate objectives.
Respond to BCG Model, Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040, the proposal therefore includes goals on:
oclimate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilient / net zero emission / carbon neutrality;
ozero waste / sustainable consumption and production;
opreservation and conservation of environment and biodiversity /sustainable management of resources;
oincreased application of science, technology, innovation and digitalization;
osocial inclusion / human resource development;
