On 5 September 2023, NSTDA and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) of Singapore celebrated a collaboration in research and human resource development. The MOU was signed by NSTDA President Prof. Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong and A*STAR Deputy Chief Executive Prof. Dr. Andy Hor, in the presence of executives from NSTDA, A*STAR and four Singaporean universities.

The agreement aims to foster research and manpower development collaboration between the two countries. The first stage of the collaboration will focus on human resource development via programs such as faculty exchange, short-term researcher exchange, and masters and PhD scholarship.

“Under this collaboration, NSTDA will select and nominate talented students from Thailand for the Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) – a PhD scholarship program jointly implemented by A*STAR, the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and the Singapore Management University (SMU),” said Dr. Patchralita Chatwalitpong, NSTDA Vice President for S&T Human Resource Development. In addition, NSTDA and the four universities will carry out short-term research exchange program with support from A*STAR.

To introduce the delegation to NSTDA’s research capabilities, NSTDA Executive Vice President Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai and NSTDA Vice President Dr. Manaschai Kunaseth gave a tour to research facilities at Thailand Science Park, including LANTA Supercomputer, the National Biobank of Thailand (NBT), and Fabrication Lab.
