The 4th Meeting of the Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation of Thailand (MHESI) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People's Republic of China took place on 21 September 2023. Progress on current collaborative projects was discussed and the future prospect of the collaboration was deliberated. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sirirurg Songsivilai, MHESI Permanent Secretary, and Mr. Zhang Guang Jun, MOST Deputy Minister. NSTDA was represented by Executive Vice President Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai at the meeting.
At present, NSTDA is actively collaborating with Chinese organizations in two areas, rail technology and technology transfer.
- Rail technology - The Rail and Modern Transport Research Center of NSTDA is collaborating with Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) and CRRC Corporation Limited of China to establish the China-Thailand Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Rail Transit, aiming to conduct research and testing on rail transit systems. The laboratory will play a key role in supporting the Thai-Chinese high-speed train project.
- Technology Transfer - The Thailand-China Technology Transfer Center (TCTTC) was co-established by NSTDA to facilitate researcher exchanges, training programs, and business matching between Thai and Chinese enterprises to create positive impacts to both countries. In 2024, TCTTC plans to drive the technology transfer activities in digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and technologies in line with the BCG model to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
