Bangkok, Thailand – The ASEAN Regional Research Infrastructure (RRI) strategy, a result of extensive collaboration among ASEAN Member States, has been finalized. This ambitious plan, developed through a series of workshops since May 2024, outlines a roadmap for enhancing research capabilities and addressing disparities across the region.

The strategy, which has been supported by Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MHESI), the European Union (EU) through the Enhanced Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (E-READI) and the ASEAN Secretariat, the strategy is the culmination of extensive consultations and expert input. The finalized draft, complete with an implementation plan, will be presented to the ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology (COSTI) for approval in June 2025.

The taskforce, which includes representatives from ASEAN Member States, has also recapitulated on its participation in the International Conference on Research Infrastructure 2024 in Australia, where ASEAN RRI had the opportunity to showcase its work and explore potential international partnerships.
