BIOTEC and Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), UK with financial support from INCONTACT organized the FP7/Horizon 2020 People Program Workshop and FP7 Cooperation-Food and Environment Info Day on 12–13 March 2012 at BIOTEC, Thailand Science Park.
The first event was aimed to provide detailed information to the Thai research community about the 7th Framework Program (FP7) in People Program, as known as Marie Curie Actions (2007 to 2013). Two actions highly relevant to Thai research community were introduced in this particular workshop including International Incoming Fellowships (IIF) and International Outgoing Fellowships (IOF). IIF are individual fellowships that aim to attract top-class researchers from third countries (Thailand) to work and undertake research training in Europe with a view to developing mutually-beneficial research co-operation, whereas IOF are individual fellowships that aim to reinforce the international dimension of the career of European researchers by giving them the opportunity to be trained in a world level third country research organization (Thailand). This event offered a platform for Thai IIF prospective applicants to seek potential host at School of Biological Sciences, QUB and a platform for Thai senior scientists to express interest in hosting potential IOF prospective applicants from QUB as well.
On the second day, the program was focused on FP7 in Cooperation Program in which research support will be provided to international cooperation projects across the European Union and beyond. The presentation topics in the program covered FP7 call guide emphasizing on food & environment, How to form consortium, and Practical tips to write an effective proposal. The workshop was attended by more than 50 scientists from various research centers and universities in Thailand.
