On 7 October 2018, Dr. Suvit Maesincee, Minister of Science and Technology, attended the 15th Annual Meeting of Science and Technology in Society Forum held in Kyoto, Japan. During this event, he participated in the Ministers’ Roundtable Meeting, in which ministers from over 20 countries discussed about the vital role
of science and technology in attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) and lights and shadows of science and technology. In addition, he also spoke in the Innovation Ecosystem session, sharing with the audience the Thailand 4.0 policy that aims to develop Thailand to a value-based economy with an inclusive STI approach to ensure that S&T benefit everyone in the society.
Apart from Science Minister, NSTDA President, Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, also participated in the STS Forum 2018. He served as a chairman in the Collaboration among Academia, Industries and Government session, addressing the industry-academia collaboration under the new concept of open innovation and the government policy to promote career path of academic/researchers who work with industry; and the policy to foster public-private collaboration.
