Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) recently hosted THAI TECH EXPO 2018 on 4-8 July 2018 at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC). The 5-day event aimed to showcase latest innovations, drawn from 15 agencies affiliated to or networking with MOST, which can play a major role in supporting Thai industry to achieve Thailand 4.0 vision.
Thailand 4.0 is an economic model introduced by the government in order to transform the country to an innovation-based economy. THAI TECH EXPO is one of many mechanisms employed by MOST to support the development of an innovative economy by facilitating Thai industry and entrepreneurs to have access to novel technologies and services that companies can utilize to enhance their competitiveness.
Spanning over 10,000 sq. m. space, THAI TECH EXPO 2018 had over 470 innovations on display, covering a wide spectrum of applications ranging from agriculture, manufacturing industry, enhancing quality of life, upgrading community products (OTOP) and machineries. There were also seminars, business matching, business pitching activities taking place at the event. Highlights included FOMM Car and innovative technologies for the elderly. FOMM Car is a Thai-made compact electric vehicle equipped with detachable lithium ion battery, “Battery Cloud” system allowing access and management of battery information by smartphone, and designed with flood countermeasure function to float on water and able to move on water surface with the original wheels in case of emergency.
