On 9 September 2019, an MOU signing ceremony was held between Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and Ministry of Interior (MOI) to employ information technology to enhance city management and services offered to its people, paving way to become smart city. Representing the two ministries at the signing ceremony were Mr. Pathom Sawanpanyalert, MHESI Deputy Permanent Secretary and Mr. Boontham Lertsukekasem, MOI Deputy Permanent Secretary.
As a pilot project, Ministry of Interior will promote the use of two systems developed by NECTEC-NSTDA, namely Traffy Fondue and Traffy Waste, among local administrative organizations. Traffy Fondue allows people to report problems and submit maintenance requests, suggestions and complaints regarding the city services directly to the responsible units in the city administration. The mobile application also provides status report of problems, requests, suggestions and complaints to people who file the report. Data collected from the system can be analyzed to support decisions on city planning and infrastructure investment accordingly. Traffy Waste is a smart waste collection management system. The system keeps record of garbage truck routes and amount of waste collected and employs artificial intelligence (AI) technology to plan waste collection and optimize truck routes. The system is linked with Traffy Fondue to enable the direct and instant communication between people and the city unit responsible for waste collection and management.
