British Council recently announced the launch of FameLab Thailand 2019, the biggest science communication competition. Among Thai partner organizations delivering FameLab Thailand 2019 are NSTDA, National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office, National Science Museum, Ministry of Science and Technology, The Standard, True Corporation and Chulalongkorn University.

The competition is open to individuals studying or working in science, engineering, technology, medicine or mathematics (STEM). The format allows participants 3 minutes to explain a scientific idea or research to a jury and a live audience. The winner of FameLab Thailand 2019 will receive the opportunity of a lifetime to participate in the International FameLab competition to be held at Cheltenham Science Festival, UK from 2 to 8 June 2019. He or she will visit the origin of FameLab, see world-leading experts talk, meet fellow FameLabbers from across the world, and gain experience on a global stage.

During the launch of FameLab Thailand 2019, three FameLab Ambassadors were introduced. Representing three generations of Thai scientists are Prof. Yongyuth Yuthavong, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Technology; Prof. Vorasuk Shotelersuk, 2016 Outstanding Scientist and a Newton Prize recipient; and Cherprang Areekul, a 4th year science student at the Mahidol University International College.

To enter FameLab Thailand 2019, one can submit a three-minutes talk in science through a video entry on the official website by 22 March 2019.  Final competition will be held in front of a live audience on 11 May 2019 at the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre and broadcast on TV channels of True Corporation.
