NSTDA, the National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI Office) and Chulalongkorn University announced a new partnership on Science for Industry program, or Sci-FI program. The goal of Sci-FI program is to enhance the competitiveness of Thai industry by building skilled workforce according to the
needs of industry. The initial phase of the project will put emphasis on middle management level in the process improvement and product design fields. For a long-term plan, the project will focus on developing multi-disciplinary manpower equipped with both technical and management skills.
Sci-FI program is a 2-year master’s degree program offered by Chulalongkorn University in which students will be placed to work for 2 years in the positions of assistant engineers or assistant managers at companies and assigned to work on product development, process improvement, or R&D as determined by companies. Students can seek advice from their academic advisors at Chulalongkorn University on the project they work on at the companies, and can also use the project as part of their theses.
Sci-FI program is an improvement from a common internship program. Here, students will be able to spend more time, 2 years, working in companies to acquire maximum working experience with better job prospect after graduation, while industry also gains maximum benefit from having students working full-time for the companies. Under this program, companies will pay students’ salary no less than 15,000 baht/month. Therefore, Sci-FI is truly a novel scheme aiming to groom employees specifically for the companies.
Sci-FI program is now recruiting both students and companies to join. For more information, please contact Sci-FI Office at Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University.
