On 11 September 2020, NSTDA welcomed a visit of Prof. Dr. Anek Laothamatas and executive team of Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). This is Prof. Anek’s first visit to NSTDA Headquarters since he was appointed MHESI minister in August 2020.
NSTDA President Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul and NSTDA top executives led Minister Anek through exhibition showcasing recent outstanding innovations developed by NSTDA such as AI for Thai (a platform providing artificial intelligence (AI) services to users in the manufacturing and service industries), COVID-19 colorimetric LAMP detection test, innovative solutions in green rubber technology and energy storage system, as well as the progress of COVID-19 vaccine development. Minister and his team also got to test ride a prototype aluminum-bodied electric bus. Designed and manufactured in Thailand under the partnership of NSTDA and Sakun C Innovation Company Limited, the prototype bus and its blueprint will be handed over to Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to serve as a model for BMTA new electric bus fleet.
In addition, Minister Anek and his team also visited new facilities such as the National Biobank of Thailand to preserve and provide services on biological resources including plants, microorganisms and human genome database, NSTDA Supercomputer Center to provide high-performance computing (HPC) resources to support research on issues of national interest and Plant Factory Facility.
