Dr. Sasitorn Srisawadi, a senior researcher of MTEC-NSTDA, was selected to join a prestigious group of TWAS Young Affiliates 2020. TWAS Young Affiliate is an honor presented by the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS) to developing-nation researchers who demonstrate potential for a high-impact career.

Dr. Sasitorn’s career at NSTDA started in 2011 when she joined the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), one of NSTDA research centers. She works on additive manufacturing (3D printing), production process optimization, and composite materials fabrication. Her excellent track record includes a number of peer-reviewed publications and patent applications in the areas of her expertise which includes the new process of 3D printing for natural rubber and metal matrix composites. Among her recent accomplishments are a fellow of Pioneering Intellectual Property Programme for ASEAN Young Researchers 2020, Co-chair of Thai Young Scientists Academy (TYSA) from 2019 to 2021, and Young Leader Fellow at the Annual Meeting of Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum 2019. She has been active in promoting and supporting the roles of young scientists in the region and attended several working groups including the Global Young Scientist Scholar Roundtable hosted by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the Public Awareness of STEM & Advancing the Role of Women in STEM Conference hosted by the Institute for Learning Innovation.

Dr. Sasitorn will use her five-year TWAS Young Affiliate tenure to build networks with other affiliates and elected TWAS Fellows in order to initiate research collaboration for the advancement of science, technology, and innovation in the developing world.
