NSTDA and the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) held a joint press conference launching the the 1st National Science Technology and Innovation Fair 2021 (NSTIF 2021), a national science competition. The press conference was joined by NSTDA President Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, NRCT Secretary-General Dr. Wiparat De-ong and two notable alumni of NSTDA science competitions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taweetham Limpanuparb, Program Director of Chemistry, Mahidol University International College and Mr. Natt Piyapramote, Senior Software Engineer, Agoda Services Co., Ltd.

For almost two decades, NSTDA has been hosting Thailand IT Contest Festival, a national IT competition platform to promote creativity and innovation. IT Contest Festival consists of two main events: Young Scientist Competition (YSC) and National Software Contest (NSC). Under the new NSTDA-NRCT partnership, Thailand IT Contest Festival will be renamed the National Science Technology and Innovation Fair (NSTIF) starting from 2021. NRCT will make seed money available for students to create projects for submission to YSC and NSC.

NSTIF 2021 will feature YSC and NSC. The regional rounds of YSC and NSC were held virtually on 4 March and 5 March, respectively. This year, there were a total of 1,606 submissions for YSC and 1,394 submissions for NSC. Winners of the regional rounds, 62 teams for YSC and 121 teams for NSC, will be competing for the national titles on 19 March 2021. The NSTIF 2021 winners will represent Thailand at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (Regeneron ISEF), the world’s largest science competition, scheduled to take place from 16-21 May 2021 in the US.
