NSTDA and R.X. Company Limited held a press conference on 10 October 2022 unveiling Rexcuer, a negative pressure ambulance. Representing each party at the press conference were NSTDA Vice President Dr. Somboon Sahasithiwat and RX President Mr. Charnchai Udomlarptham.
During the process of prevention and containment of the COVID-19 pandemic, negative pressure ambulances play an important role in transporting infectious patients. A negative pressure ambulance works by keeping the inside air pressure lower than outside the vehicle, thereby preventing the natural flow of air from inside to outside.
Negative pressure ambulance Rexcuer was designed by NSTDA Design & Engineering Consulting Service Center (DECC) and RX by combining expertise of each party. DECC’s strength lies in cutting-edge technology and engineering, whereas RX has in-depth understanding in pharma and medical equipment market in Thailand with more than 50-year experience in the industry as a leading distributor of pharmaceutical products, medical equipment and supplies.
The co-creation of this innovation illustrates the core of Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) agenda in applying science, technology and innovation to improve the competitiveness of agriculture, manufacturing and services and drive sustainable economic growth. In the area of medical devices, the BCG model aims to develop capability in the research and manufacturing of medical devices to reduce reliance on foreign technology and enable Thailand’s medical devices industry to fulfil local and international market.
