NSTDA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), held APEC 2022 SCE Policy Dialogue: Understanding the Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model for Strong, Balanced, Secure, Sustainable and Inclusive Growth in the Asia-Pacific on 22 February 2022. Delivering opening remarks at the virtual event were Associate Professor Pasit Lorterapong, MHESI Deputy Permanent Secretary of MHESI and H.E. Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, MFA Permanent Secretary.
In the introduction session, Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, NSTDA President and Secretary to the BCG Policy Board gave a presentation on “Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model”. Experts from APEC economies were invited to present their domestic policies and strategies in three key areas: (1) Agriculture and Food Systems; (2) Energy Efficiency and Resilience; and (3) Resource Management and Creativity in the Economy. The focus was placed on approaches to recover from the pandemic and achieve sustainable economic and social growth in harmony with the APEC 2022 theme “Open. Connect. Balance.”.
The event was concluded with Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Director General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, MFA delivering closing remarks. He emphasized that the BCG Model can serve as a tool to stimulate the economy with a balance between business growth and environmental preservation to achieve sustainability and green growth for all APEC economies.
