As the new president of NSTDA, Prof. Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong envisions NSTDA “to function as the national powerhouse in science, technology, and innovation (STI) for the government, private and public sectors to improve and strengthen research and innovation ecosystem that can eradicate major obstacles leading to a great leap in nation development”.

With over the workforce of over 3,000 employees, 70% of which are research staff, and more than 700 PhD scientists, Prof. Limpijumnong plans to bring NSTDA to work collaboratively with government agencies, academia and industry to form “Team Thailand” to leverage STI in order to enable leapfrog development for Thailand. The following are among his strategies that will help NSTDA realize the new vision:

  • Utilize NSTDA resources including knowledge, expertise and infrastructure to facilitate national development, design solutions to critical problems the country is facing, and create sustainable economic growth;
  • Promote public-private-people partnership to leverage industrial competitiveness and improve public services with research, development and engineering, with the focus on research-driven enterprises and local administrative bodies such as the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) in the early phase;
  • Entice businesses to use the services and expertise available at Thailand Science Park, enabling NSTDA resources to make a greater impact to the nation;
  • Attract innovation-driven enterprises to join EECi and participate in the co-creation process;
  • Establish a BCG corridor to actualize the vision of BCG policy; and
  • Develop total solutions to comprehensively serve industrial and people sectors.
